Is there such a thing as a float position for a 3 point? I will be putting a power rake on my tc24da tractor next week. I see that there is a "float" position for a mmm but i am lost as to a float indicator or position for a rear attachment. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Seems to me that the only position is "float" for my 3-point. i.e. I have no hydraulic down pressure, the weight of the implement is the only thing that makes it go down.

Yes, I agree. In fact, putting the position lever all the way down (resulting in the 3-pt arms going all the way down), would be the closest think to a float position - similar to the "float" position on a FEL.

As the others have said.
You have nothing but float on the 3pt. I think the MMM is the same. On the other hand, the FEL can be forced down with pressure, or 'floated' as an alternative (no down pressure).

Now, maybe you have a different idea of what 'float' is, than what we are thinking you are asking.

Maybe to you 'float' is just letting the mower (or power rake) ride on its gage wheels, vs being carried by the tractor. If so, let us know more about what you are thinking is or might be going on with your set-up.

if the power rake is a woods or a glencoe rake there is a "float position" in the top link hook up on the implement. There is a slot rather than a hole so the rake can "float" over uneven ground. If you have any questions please message me, we have owned a power rake for 9 months now and it is the biggest timesaver yet..

On the TC 24 D and DA, the label on the lift lever is to indicate a range where your mmm will float with the NH cushion lift system. It is a system that takes most of the weight of the mmm off the gauge wheels, letting the tractor support the mower just enough so that the gauge wheels follow the ground, or "float" rather than dig in. Since it runs off the 3ph, they give an indicator for guidance. My 60" 914A mmm weighs almost 500 lbs, without the cushion lift, it would plow the gauge wheels into the ground on softer areas.

As far as true float goes on the 3ph, it is as others have said - there is no down pressure, so everything floats. It depends on the implement and design as to whether it is supposed to engage or dig in.

Hope this helps.

Float on my 3 pt would be with the lever left in the full down position. It'll float up from there. The arms can be easily lifted by hand. That's true of any stop position. It'll float up above wherever it's stopped.
