Tractor
KAMA/TS354C 35HP 4 cyl 4 wheel drive
Got my tractor up to my ranch about 2 months ago and been dying to try it out. First on the list of IMPORTANT seat time was to BB the 4 1/2mi of dirt road leading to the ranch. Well I found out that when the tractor is in L-1 it takes forever. I got maybe a 1 mile stretch that I did but when I did it I angled the BB so I can crown the road. I put down my scarifiers (2) of them because it's the right side of the road I was working on and with the angle I had on the BB thats the side I was trying to move the most. Anyway all I ended up doing was litteraly ripping one of the teeth off of one of them and bent the posts that the lower link hooks up to at the BB. Granted its a HOWSE brand but for the most part the BB itself is holding its own, its just those pins that the lower links slide onto. Or do I need to aproach this differently somehow /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. The ground is very heavy clay with alot of rock thrown in for good measure. It's some really tuff stuff to work with at times.

You are probably doing nothing wrong. Sounds like tough conditions that may require larger equipment. Perhaps waiting till the ground is wet may help.

Note: Don't go too fast. Catching a good rock and stopping quickly can be hard on equipment and yourself! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's pretty impressive failure /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif It kinda sounds like it happened gradually over the course of you mile's work(?) Did you happen to be throttled up quite a ways? Any chance your bottom link pin was slightly loose?

Egon beleive it or not the top 1" was dry and under that was wet. When you BB that stuff it looks like wood chips, thats how hard that dirt is.

So far to date I have never given that tractor even half throttle yet. And those bottom link pins are tight. Go figure a cheap BB and the parts that fail you wouldnt expect to.

RE: Bent Pins

I have bent the pins on my box blade, pond scoop, rotory shredder, and finish mower! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It doesn't take much to get them crooked.
