Hi me and my dad just barrowed a 9 inch danuhausen(sp) auger from a friend, and we are having some problems with using it. when we barrowed the auger we found out that it needed some new teeth. so before getting the new teeth we tested to see how it worked. the first time the auger went down 4 feet in soft soil. the second time we tried it in hard soil and it wouldn't drill no more then 4 inches. so we got the new teeth thinking that the teeth were the problem. but when we put them on and tried to dig it won't go down no more then 4 inches into the hard soil. we put the 3pt down all the way and the depth setting to the max and it still didn't do anything. well we were wondering does anybody have any ideas about what is wrong with it?

btw the tractor is a 40hp century tractor.

My guess is the new teeth are not adjusted correctly. Yrs ago, I had a rented auger with new teeth that would not go in the ground. My new PHD goes in the hard clay like its sand................

I don't know how to adjust them, but I suspect that is your problem.

Mine has stopped when/if I hit a rock. It will sit there and spin. Yours at least started to dig, so I would think it hit something. Get a digging bar and see if you can break up anything in the hole that might have stopped it. Also, make sure that the valve that controls how quickly an attachment lowers is opened up to allow for the light PHD.
