I want to stick to a 3 pont hookup for simplicity and use of other implements. I found this for right around 3k, any input or are there any better options close to this price range. I will be putting this on my MF model 20, 30 hp diesel tractor.

I am not opposed to doing a kit backhoe like listed here but the # is disconnected and they have not returned emails. Are there any other suppliers like this?

Several of the dealers around me sell Koyker backhoes. They have been around and may be worth paying a little more. Then there is cadplans. when i looked at them, they offered material kits that you could weld up your own.

But backhoes can place tremendous stress on themselves and the tractor. Whatever you do, make sure both are ready for prime time....

Hello,

I would look possibly at Koyker or some other hoe. That one appears to be Chinese made and for a bit more you can get a far better one made in the U.S.

I know a guy right now who has a Chinese backhoe and he is having a lot of trouble with it.

Best of Luck

The hydraulics circuits are very complex on these units. The better ones uses a regenerative circuit so you can swing curl and dump at the same time. Take a look at the Bush Hog, Woods, or Bradco units. By the looks of your tractor you need a 7500 or a 7.5 foot digging depth and no larger.
I have a Woods 9000 and recommend Woods highly

I've seen these kits and wonder why anyone would want to bother with the price of steel what it is. You can find used hoes close to home and rework the whole unit with new pins, hoses and cyl packing if needed. That's much cheaper and easier- and have a proven design . Some of those Chinese hoes aren't designed so well either. There was a post here some time ago where a China hoe wouldn't crowd close to boom due to design. If you're trying to save money, I wouldn't go the inferior product route.

Well honestly I am having a hard time justifying the purchase at 3k. I know it would cheaper to rent, but I hate throwing the money away at rentals and being in a rush to use them.

Any used hoes I have seen go for around 3k and do need a lot of work.

I am not afraid of chinese stuff they do make some quality stuff cheap, I just don't know if this is a decent piece or not, JINMA is not some fly by night company I would assume their product would be decent.

I guess I will keep looking. Or most likely just do the rental thing /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have a chinese backhoe (3 point) and it works pretty good. That being said, you will need a welder, cutting torch, good working knowledge of hydraulics, and the ability to machine parts. Oh, and lots of patients, just when your going good, something else needs fixed. Just my experience

I think this is true...mainly because if you HAVE to rent a backhoe you don't do all the things you would if you Owned a backhoe.

If I totalled up the time I have used mine for all these little things I would never have rented a hoe for, I am sure I payed for mine twice over by now. Have I saved money by buying a backhoe? Not really...because I would not have spent the money to do those little things that make our place nicer if I did not have one here to use when I want to...

In the end I guess renting is cheaper than owning...but owning results in getting much more done than renting...I am sure this is a fact of backhoe ownership if you have a place that offers enough of those little things to do... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm assuming, since you don't mention it, that you don't have a loader on your tractor. I wouldn't put any backhoe on a tractor without one because I just don't think you could weight that tractor enough in the front to handle the stresses and weight a backhoe will add.

I'm particulary not fond of 3pt hitch backhoes either, and many a tractor has had the rear end broken off by them. I'm a big fan of subframe backhoes because then the stress is distributed over the whole subframe base, and usually connects to the bottom of a loader frame, making everything much sturdier.

I'd think very hard about using a BH without a loader on.

Well I talked to some people with that particular hoe so I am going to give it a try, I don't plan alot of production work, just random stuff around the place I will let you all know how it goes.
