I haven't priced them lately but there is (was) another thread discussing cost. Plus you can google Cammond and Gannon and get pricing for different size hydraulic units. I'm sure there are additional brands as well. Hopefully others will comment with suggestions.

Once you've use a BB with hydraulic scarfiers you definatly would not want to go back to manual ones. They are worth it.

very helpfull information on this thread, kudos! i am thinking of using a torch to modify the side plates on my Woods BB to create slope similar to the trapazoid type side plates on others. any input on degree/angle of cut, back to front and, or, the idea in general ? seems like it would be the best of both worlds.

Check out this Dragon brand of box blades. Very HD and hot dipped. Hydro scarifiers as an option. Looks like a unique product.

Here is a United 448HD box blade that I just bought. 318lbs. Captured link pins. 3 position scarifiers. It was only $369 before tax.

Solo nice looking box blade. It looks very heavy duty for a small box blade, that is unusual as many smaller box blades are lightly built. Is that a 45" or a 48" blade?

I've got a United box blade as well, a 6'. It seems built and braced well. The steel isn't as thick as some heavy duty units, thus is doesn't weigh as much. I like the captured pins and the scarifier beam seems rugged. The sides and back are where others I've seen are thicker. So far, I haven't needed to add weight. It'll dig easily and my tractor will pull it with dirt spilling over the top. I can't remember what I paid at Batchelder's in Lebanon, Maine, but I thought it a good value then. I'd take some pics but its under a tarp, buried with snow.

Mornin Cotton,
Thanks for all those shots. That was great!

OK, cut to the chase, I called my closest Woods dealer yesterday, over in Granville, Ny and got some prices. Im thinking the standard duty Woods blade would work for me. I have one 5 acre field on the right side of my property that some farmer plowed many years ago and left it that way /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
The dealer originally quoted me a price of $750 but said he had that blade in stock and would sell it for $675. That blade weighs in at 555lbs. How does that price sound to you? This is the RB-72.

And by the way, keep the pictures coming /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Don't forget that the heavy duty BBs also come with an optional "hinged rear moldboard" which is nice and allows you to have more digging depth then the standard one and also smoothes out the outflow better. (They do cost more). I have a Tufline TB-272HD 6' model BB w/hinged mold board. It is made with 1/2" steel and is equipped with 7 of 5/8" thick adjustable hi-strength alloy steel scarifier shanks. The scarifier shanks are held in place by a notch on the back side of the shank and a square pin that slips in on the front side and jams it solid. It is connected by chain and is easily workable with gloves by hand. The box weighs 625#. I paid $825.00 delivered to my door. They are made by Monroe Tufline and can be found at the following website:
http://www.monroetufline.com/pdf/Tufline TB Series qxd.pdf
The hinged rear moldboard is very solid and braced so that using it as a dozer style push blade will be just as solid as the fixed rear moldboards. The cutting blades are attached with center flanged bolts so that the blade can be turned over and used on the other side when one side gets dulled.

Tried to edit the post, but it did not give me the option. The Scarifier shanks are 3/4" thick on the Tufline TB-272HD 6' BB.
