I am totally a rookie and getting my first tractor next week. I use a regular Craftsman 18 HP riding lawn mower to maintain my 1/2 acre of lawn. I have 8 more acres of recently logged brush that I want to gradually turn to pasture and fence for cows. Question: Is there a difference between a 'brush' hog and a 'bush' hog? I have heard both mentioned. Also, is a RFM only for gras after the brush is gone? Don't want to buy both, but may have to. Buying a 28 HP 4x4 tractor. Finally, what is a box blade for.

Hi, Bush Hog is a corporation that manufactures many different implements. Brush hog is a synonym for a rotary cutter, a.k.a. rough cutter. The questions you've asked just happen to be questions which have been much discussed in the past month. I'm going to give you several links to other very informative threads which just ran here on the same topics. Just click below to go to these threads. Hope reading these will help. Feel free to post follow up questions here.

Here's a tree puller that works well on brush, and with the roots pulled up with the stem there aren't any stobs to poke holes in your tires.

Thank you for the advice and picture. Where would I get an attatchment like that and what should I expect to pay? It doesn't seem to complicated. How big of trees or brush can that handle.
