We have a 1672 Land Pride RFM at work. I'm having alot of trouble with it plugging. It's especially bad in the smooth brome grass but also plugs in the lawn. Dealer gave me some graphite (sp?) paint to try. before I try that is there a better solution? Smooth brome is mowed as high as the mower goes 6"? and lawn is mowed 3-4". I can under stand plugging when it's wet but not when the grass is dry. Running 540 rpm pto speed. Any suggestions or advice appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the 1672. Is it rear discharge? or side discharge?

Is it clean and shiny underneath, with no old grass caked on?

Did it just start this or has it always plugged up?

Mulching blades?

It's rear discharge. Shiny underneath, I have washed it clean many times thinking it just building up on the old grass residue. Also it shined up and wore the paint off when I mowed some grass I previously cut with a sickle. Went right back to plugging in the normal mowing. Regular blades. It's had trouble since new. Thanks much

This is an unusual problem, so I'm going to take a shot in the dark:

Look at the angle of the deck. The front of the deck should be noticeably lower than the rear of the deck. This allows blade "relief", and prevents grinding and re-grinding the grass clippings. In other words, the blades should cut as they advance toward the un-cut grass, and not cut or rub again as the center and rear of the blade disc passes over the already cut grass and clippings.
