Clearing Logging Debris

   / Clearing Logging Debris #31
EastTxFrank, you can specify a lot of thing in the cutting contract such as no stump over 6" above the ground, No standing timber over 4" in dia, BMPs must be followed, logging debris scattered over the area or logging debris piled in 1 loacation per 40 acres, roads returned to pre-cut condition, etc. depending on what the area has consider a chipping crew rather than a logging crew. They leave less behind. Arsenal sprayed in the the first summer after cutting and the area burned that fall allows a planting during the winter.

Good luck, Frank. I stomped and screamed after the pre harvest discussion went out the window. I stopped the shearer and complained of stump heights, 8" gums etc being uncut, and tops etc not windrowed. Get it on paper, 'cause a man's word aint worth diddly nowdays.

I never met a logger that claimed to be a landscaper. It is best to expect the mess. I am awaiting permits now for a logger to clear some land and have been to this loggers other jobs and see what he does as standard operating procedure.
