How far would you drive to pick up an attachment for your tractor? I have found a 48 backhoe for my 4510 with about 80 hours on it for 5gs asking price. One way travel would be 8.5 hrs. Its got some scuffs from rocks on the arm next to the bucket and the hydraulic fittings are rusted. Ive thought of having it shipped, but I dont like buying stuff without seeing it first.

A better question for me would be "How many miles HAVE YOU GONE after an implement"?

Your answer is..........

I drove from northern Kentucky to central michigan a couple times, mid Ohio 3 times, northern Indiana 3 times, Tennessee 4 times, Alabama once, and..... (drumroll please....) Kansas once.

And I hauled a combine all the way from Iowa......

I guess it depends on how much you will save from finding one locally. You also should take into account what your time is worth in driving there and back. If you can save significant money based on the price of the BH, your time, 17 hours of driving, gas, possible night in a motel -- then go for it. Also, is it worth the risk of seeing it and not wanting it and just driving back empty-handed?

I drove 4 hours one way once for a plow.
I just can't find implements around here fairly priced.
I have considered an overnight trip a few times.

Have to weight out what it will cost me locally and what will it cost me + travel expenses to go pick it up.
My time has got to be worth something too.
