Having a splitter ram cycle time of three seconds has got to be pretty dangerous, I much prefer the 13 seconds of our 60,000 psi 22gpm Barnes two stage pump with the 5" hydraulic ram. Slower is safer! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

what types of wood have you run through this puppy. From the video it looks a little underbuilt. Have you ever run hard elm or something similar through it. What's the largest diameter? Looks linteresting, and from the video the cycle time looked managable.

As far as I've seen using this now for two years, I would have to say you would have to be negligent for there to be a safety issue associated with the cycle time. Never had an incident.

Tim,

I burn birch almost exclusively, and it splits beautifully with this splitter. I've also split pine, spruce, poplar, elm and some general "fruit" trees (apple or cherry people cut down). I cut down birch trees in the 12-16" diameter range as they are easier for me to get out of the bush and handle. I have, however, a more ambitious brother who likes to cut the "big ones". We co-own this splitter and I know he's had no issues with using it to split the big ones.

You can see in the video, but all you have to do is pull up on the lever to engage the weight of the pair of flywheels. They push the ram out and the split is done.

I'm sure there is some wood that some folks split that this would not be suitable for. In my case, it certainly fits the bill.

I watched the video and it looked good. But, I never found anything on the web site about price. What is the price on this one? I am sure I would have to pay a bundle to ship it to Florida too.
