I have a Land Pride 4' finishing mower with A Mitsubishi S-373 tractor. I used it to mow yesterday for the first time and now there are clippings everywhere. What is a good solution to get them off the ground? It's not going to look like anything unless I get it raked in some way. Will I need something to attach to the mower or will I need another implement altogether?

How high was the grass when you mowed? Is your RFM a front or rear discharge?

If you have all the clippings because the grass was really long, then it's a one time situation that wouldn't justify a new tool (read toy). If that's the case I would just wait a couple days for the clippings to dry out and mow again......maybe a hair lower.

A side discharge is more prone to make wind rows out of the clippings. IMHO a rear discharge chops the clippings a little finer and spreads them so they aren't as noticable.

If the grass wasn't tall and you have a side discharge RFM it's probably time to look at a new implement (read toy). You didn't say how much area you're mowing or what your budget would be. The cheapest thing would be a landscape rake. There are other more expensive options such as various models of sweepers and vacuums.

Hope this helps.

I don't know how it would work behind a RFM, but I bought a Agri-Fab 12 Cu. Ft. Lawn Sweeper Item #: 95309 Model:45-0320-062 $199.98 last year from Lowe's that I pull behind a JD455 60" deck mower and it does a pretty good job. I cut about five acres or so with the mower, and pick a site near the area I'm mowing to dump and move the clippings after mowing with the FEL. The clippings accumulated through the year will make some massive compost piles that are great to have around the next year...

Not sure if they have anything for a rear discharge but check out http://www.trac-vac.com/
I use the 880 model with my tc30 and 72" mmm sidedischarge. Works great in fairly open areas

I have a 2.54 ac lot, and the grass was quite high when I mowed it. I only use the finish mower in the front yard and sides of the house. A landscape rake might be just the ticket. Inexpensive and effective. The finish mower is side discharge, so it does create wind rows.

Looks like the trac-vacs work with mid mount mowers. I'd need a solution for a 4' rear pto finish mower. I didn't see any solutions for that application.

"The finish mower is side discharge, so it does create wind rows. "

Start in the middle of the section to be mowed.. and continously mow w/ the discharge to the outside.. this way all the grass clippings are blown off the grass. Overlap as needed.

In tall grass.. I'd raised the chute guard(w/ nobody around to get hurt).. does your mower currently have high lift blades?

Removing the chute guard with no one around is an option. I've done that before using my push mower. I'm assuming it does have highlift blades.
