JD 3-bag power flow bagger
I'd really like to have one of these for the X495, so I popped into deere's confuserator--uh, configurator--to check out the price. It lists the power flow bagger itself for $755, which wouldn't be too bad. But down under "Accessories" it shows a "High Performance Blower Assembly for 62C mower" for another $428.
I thought the blower was included as part of the collection system. Is it?
Also, what sort of safeguards (if any) does this thing have to protect from the occasional stick or gravel? Or do I have to have an Augusta National-type lawn to have one?

Re: JD 3-bag power flow bagger
Hi,
I have the two bag power-flo system on my 445/54". As I recall, the "kit" without the high performance option, which is what I have, utilizes the outside pulley for the blower belt.
The high perfromance option uses a seperate blower motor. I don't believe you use both, you get one or the other. I could be wrong on this, but this is how it was explained to me.
Regarding how well the unit works I can only attest to the basice unit like I have. I have run the thing since 2000. It has always worked well for me. The only time I plugged it was when I was cutting some thick wet clover. Other than that I have run it hard and at times neglected the maintenance side, but it keeps on ticking!
It can be a little "cumbersome" if you frequently dettach/attach, but it is not terrible. The only option I saw that I thought was better was the hydraulic dump hopper system. It is a fair amount more $$$, and I just don't bag enough to justify it. Hope this helps.

Re: JD 3-bag power flow bagger
Mike,
Are you still using the Powerflow with your X485? I have had an X485 for a number of years now but looking for an effective way to get my leaves up :0 I don't want to spend a ton of money and thought I could find a used Powerflow system. I mulch when cutting grass (54c deck) and would only use this in the fall for leaves.
Thanks,
Tim
