My vote for best snowblower goes to Loftness......but you pay for it. I used an 8 footer behind my 886 for 7 years and it worked flawlessly.....built like a tank - their smaller blowers are built very well too. See them/specs @ www.snowblowers.com. If economics are an issue, I hear that Meteor has done a good job for some people. I might give their 75" a try behind my TC40D this year.

I've been searching for a snow blower also for the last year and a half. My use is more light commercial use. The Ber-Vac and Provost (both Canadian, I think) are solid units. I have found Fair Mfg. to have a very unique blower. I have not seen one, only in their video. These units do not use an auger and blower fan. They use two fans with chopping bars on them. Fair claims their "tonnage" is more than any other blower. They show in their video the blower being tested in a sand pit and being run partially submerged in water. They show a guy throwing cinder (sp?) blocks into a blower running at full throttle. These units impress me very much. The only thing scarry is the cost. A 72" 3pt hitch blower was over $3k! I would give them a call and ask for the video, its prety neat showing how they tested them.

Has anybody seen or used this type of blower by Fair Mfg.

Since this site has been such a help to me over the last few months as I researched out my tractor purchase, I wanted to give back to it by sharing how my purchase went and what I ended up with.

I live in Minnesota. I purchased an Erskine rear mounted snowblower. Erskine is now a division of Bobcat. They have discontinued their rear mounted line of blowers and are now focusing on front mounted only to serve their parent company needs. I got one of the last rear mounted ones.
780R 78" wide 3 pt snowblower with hydraulic chute rotation and 1-3x8 cylinder with hoses and standard skid shoes, 2450.00 no tax
I spent alot of time on the snowblower decision. Farm King is the big seller around here and is cheapest. I wanted one with 4 blades in the box, heavy duty chains and more heavy duty construction. I looked a Pronovost and Loftness also. Loftness Mfg is about 40 miles from where I live. They make all the blowers sold under the New Holland name plus their own line. They are the top of the line in construction and in price. Pronovost is right behind them but their presence here is small and the dealer was farther away. They lost my sale due to making me feel that my purchase was not important to them. My purchase to them would be like buying a tootsie roll would be to me! I settled on the middle. Time will tell if I have made the best decision. Thanks to all for the help they gave through the various threads!

Dass, Have you seen the Normand or EcoNor brand snowblowers? We used to sell Farm king,, and have sold Agrotrend etc.. but we like the Econor for the money now. I think the smallest they offer is a 54" though. If you really want a 48, I may have a line on a left over with one of my distributors.. let me know and I can see if it is still available.
I am less than 2 hours away from you.

Regarding the issue of parts in future; this was the first thing that I asked about. The front mounted and rear mounted blowers are the same box, chain, impeller, blades etc. The only difference is the pto attachment to the box and its gear and these are made of industry standard equipment. Therefore availablity of OEM parts will continue. Since Bobcat owns Erskine I believe they will be around for a longtime to come. I hope that answers your question.
