I just got my new Fimco sprayer and went to hook it up to the tractor. My problem with 3pt hitches has always been some rust or alignment problems so a piece of wood and a sledge hammer have always worked. Well this time it is the pins painted. So I pounded on one arm until I got it on about 1/2 inch. Now it will not come off or go one any more. The other side I took a sander to the paint so it slides on easily. I have also sprayed the stuck pin with WD40. Any thoughts on how to get it off?

Try xylene in the joint to dissolve the paint.

heat it and burn off the paint. If you don't have acetelyene then try a propane hand torch or heat gun. make sure your lined up staright so your not binding and when it's nice and hot it should slide off. one point though, the WD-40 is flammable so wipe the excess off before you heat it. good luck

Thank you for all the suggestions. I took a long 80 year old 2x4, very hard, and started wacking on it. This way I had more room to swing. Still would not budge. I then tapped lightly directly with the sledge hammer on the 3pt arm and it came loose. Quickly sand and all is good to go.

Thanks,
Eric

Might I take this moment to suggest that you can support TBN and all this helpful information by purchasing Pat's Easy Change online on this very site?!? It will not only support TBN, but it will make your implement changes swear free, bloody knuckle free, and the sledge hammer or 2x4 will no longer be unwitting participants in ritural tractor beatings! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
