Once more I'm considering buying a Harley power rake for home use and for side jobs. My question is what size, T5 or T6, is better suited for use with a NH TC29D (29 HP) tractor? I know what the Glenmac literature says but I'd like to hear from actual user's what they would recommend. I'd be happy with the T5 except it's width is the same as my tractor wheels and loader bucket. This requires placing the entire tractor right along side the house or structure which is a recipe for scraping or smashing something (I learned this the hard way with a rental T5 model). On the other hand all my implements are 5' wide and this is handy for getting in between trees. Of course I don't see a big need for getting in between trees with a Harley rake. Anyway, would appreciate any advice on the T5/T6 vs Tractor HP requirements.

Some might say, even a small 24hp (19PTO) could handle a PRO model 6 footer. Although, it's certainly at, or about at the lower limit for hp.

I have grown suspicious of manufacturer's hp recommendations for their products. Use them a guideline or starting point, but don't use them as absolute. That approach offends the sensibilities of some, but I am unclear exactly where manufacturer's are coming from when they post their recommendations (that's just me talking). Optimum performance is somewhat in the eye of the beholder. My limited personal experience is that the Harley takes little PTO power. You may find a T6 is a better fit for a tractor the size of yours. A 29hp tractor should handle a T6 with ease.

After first brush hogging down saplings, brush and weeds, several passes with the Harley did a good job of smoothing. Ready for seed.

I have a T5 on my NH tc24DA tractor. I have no trouble at all running the T5. I use the T5 because it allows me to get closer to buildings and houses. It is only a little wider than my tractor so i feel more comfortable with it. On a big project i may have to make a pass or two extra but thats all. I use my power rake on an amazing variety of things and everything i do makes me look like a grading and leveling expert. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It is an expensive tool but worth every penny in my opinion.

Thanks to all for your feedback and the photos. I think the T6 would be a better fit on my tractor. I called around today and got some prices locally. I may just pull the trigger this Saturday. I have several side jobs lined up where the Harley is the ideal tool. After renting a T5 last Spring and being a first time user, I couldn't believe how well it lived up to its advertised qualities (I have the Glenmac video). As said here, it's pretty pricey but it delivers great results and I can see getting alot of use out of it. It also seems like it should be pretty durable.

One more question, what type of maintenance does it require and how often, to keep the rake in good operating order?
