Posthole Digger Plumbing relief hose on a Bushhog Post Hole Digger

I'm getting the 2102 Bushhog post hole digger with the hydraulic down pressure kit from a Kubota dealership. The salesperson wants me to bring my tractor (New Holland TN65) in for them to custom fit the relief hoses into the tractor's hydraulic tank - he is not familiar with my tractor and can't describe how to do it without seeing it first. My New Holland dealership wants $300 more for the same piece of equipment, so that isn't an option. Has anyone done this, how hard is it? Some shops just use the filler cap for the return. You could get another new cap and weld or tap it for a fitting that would fit the return hose. There wouldn't be a lot of flow to create air in the tank from doing it this way. If it was plumbing for a hydraulic motor or anything that had a lot of flow, I would want to plumb it below the fluid level of the tank, but with just one small one way cylinder it wouldn't hurt anything.

Check real quick to see if you are lucky. I'm not sure how similar your TN65 is to my 7610s.. but on the rear, the finner tube for the sump has one of those expanding rubber plugs in it.. then.. there is a fitting to the side, the manual mentions that this is specifically for routing relief/remote return lines.

It is deffinately 'optional' equipment. my manual mentions 'both' setups.. just the filler tube and plug.. and the plug and 'extended' filler tube with side cap for relief/return to sump lines.

I do believe that my 7610s had the (2) remotes as factory.. but an not sure what is oem on that machine.

You can use another (opposite) quick coupling of used spool for oil return - equal as the double acting cylinder is connected. Just be carefull that you don't push the oil through it back, or tell you dealer to put non return valve on return hose, just before male quick coupling.
In that case you don't need a separate relief hose coupling to tractor oil tank.

Jerry, look at attached manual.
There is an single acting cylinder for downpressure, just with adjustable overload relief valve plumbed before cylinder. From this valve is plumbed hose for oil return from valve. It can be connected to opposite coupler on same spool which is used for downpressure flow. Just necessary to put non return valve (direction toward male quick coupler) on return hose, to avoid flow back toward relief/overflow part (no pressure part) on valve, in case when spool is activated to opposite direction (to relief downpressure, or by mistake)
