The backhoe is still sitting in the driveway. I'm not sure what to do with it. The guy who had it before me, welded a home made subframe to the 3pt hitch brackets. The backhoe is only a 7 1/2 foot model and my tractor is an 05 Kubota 50hp. MX5000 "special utility" model. The kubota dealer I've done alot of business with, said the tractor is plenty strong enough to handle this backhoe on the 3pt. hitch. With all the posts I've read regarding 3pt. hitch mounted backhoes, I'm really reluctant to have someone cut the home made subframe off the 3pt. hitch brackets. If I try to use the home made subframe bracket, who knows when I'll figure out what I'm going to do to modify it to make it fit. Would I be making a mistake making the backhoe a 3pt. model again? I figure I could have a welder with a cutting torch come to the house and cut the subframe off in an hour or so.

Also, I got a price for rear remotes for the tractor to run the backhoe. They gave me over $800.00 installed. He said about $700.00 if I do it myself. All it looks like is, I need 2 tee fittings to tap into the loader supply / return hydraulic fittings, 2 long hoses to run to the rear of the tractor, and 2 female kubota quick disconnects. Any insight on this? Anyone do it themselves?

$700 sounds like a lot for rear remotes. I installed remotes on my JD990 and the kit was just over $200. It included banjo fittings on fitted hard pipes, quick connects, jumper hose, and a bracket for the connections. My experience is limited to that one installation.

My gut feel is that a home made sub-frame may not be better than the three point hitch, and based on some of the back yard engineering I've seen, it may be even worse. If it were me I would convert to a three point for now and see how she flies. Then I would start looking for a sub-frame kit specifically for the application if the three point mode looked like it may be a little too rough on the tractor.

The rear remotes are $850.00 installed. They must be made of gold or something. I'd do $200.00 and get it over with. I'm leaning toward cutting the subframe off.

Thanks,

Guess I answered on your other thread.....

You can't do the Tee fitting stuff, that does not work. Your loader will drop to the ground, and other bad stuff. Well, I should ask if your tractor is open center or closed center hyd first, makes a difference, but the 'Tee' thing does not work well in either case.

You can figure out what you need and assemble the rear remotes yourself. Probably 1/2 price, but will be a rougher looking unit, with hyd hose instead of hard line, and bolted on instead of 'in the dash'. I thought $600 installed was a lot for my Ford, $800 for a single pair of remotes is a bit much.

I'd lose the mounting bracket, but that is me.

I wonder if it would be easier and cheaper to just get a PTO pump and tank. Anyway, thanks Paul, for the response. I'm going to do more digging (for info. that is...).

When I bought a used Woods 7500 Backhoe and converted it from 3 pt hitch to subframe mount, I kept the PTO pump and tank... I figured I'd rather keep the backhoe hydraulics isolated from the tractor anyway.

Subframes are a life saver to the tractor structure. just as FELs come with a frame going back to the rear axel.

I'm in the process of taking an old Ford BH 758 on to a KAMA 454. have a PTO pump and a sub frame.

Just ideas,

check with your dealer about hard pipe for remotes .my kubota m4900 has hard pipe for the first set of remotes and factory hydraulic soft lines for the 2nd set . I paid $600 for 2nd set .well worth it fits like it should . you can install both sets your self in about 2- 3 hours.

Not all that familiar with the MX5000,but the kit for my L3010 was $700.00. It is not cheap, but it is a very complete kit.The kit consists of a manifold that mounts to 3ph housing,a control valve, mtg. block for Q/D,hydraulic couplers,"O" rings, all hydraulic lines, and all mtg.brackets. Once installed, two additional valves can be stack mounted to the first valve. In addition to powering the BH,you can power hydraulic TL,wood-splitters etc. Having a valve also negates the bypass hoses and fittings needed in some installations.

All good information, thanks guys. I guess I'll just go with the rear remote kit. I figured there had to be a cheaper way to get that done.

Thanks,
Howard
