Plow

   / Plow #21
I have a 12" wheel horse plow that I made a TPH for and pulled it most of the day in Chambers county Alabama red clay reinforced with rocks. Broke one shear bolt when it hung a root, other that some tire spin it worked great.

I'm impressed with your immediate success getting this plow mounted and working so well. I will admit I had some doubts when you first posted. Really glad to see it shined (scoured) up well and pulling so great through the old garden and doing a respectable job with the sod as well. Thanks for the pics.
Well done, IMO.

Milkman, I think I unintentionally misled you. I don't know crap about plows, nor much of anything else for that matter /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I bought a bunch of old iron from a guy including, among many other things, a couple of plows, toolbars and toolbar frames. I was told "grandpa" had an 8N. Anywho ... What I wound up with was a pretty good looking bottom with the full beam intact, AND a pretty used-up bottom with the beam hacked off and a 2" toolbar clamp glued on. So, because you egged me on (thank you), I bolted it all together and tried it out. Seems to work, though I have not had any rain since May and finding cooperative soil is tough. Dunno what I'll do with it, but ... I got 'er boy, and that makes me a winner (Bobby Bare) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Cheers!

Well all right!!! looks like it will work only you'll be leanin to the left next time around. I guess being from Ca. that'll come natural /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif when I was plowin, I was leaning to the right and that really felt weird for me.
When you get some rain, I'd like to see some more pics of how it works for you. Ain't nothing more theraputic than plowing a long furrow.

Well, Milkman, I can sure see why folks like to plow ... I really liked seeing that dirt turn over!
Funny thing ... my furrow even curved to the left !!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif "Funny" cuz I've been told my views put John Birch on the "left" side of the asile /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif It IS a burden being on the left coast (as measured by taxation, federal representation, et al).
Cheers!

I'd like to see a pic of your TPH setup, there have been a couple of sleeve hitch conversions to TPH, and the plow set rather far back, is yours one of the ones that has been pictured on the site? we always need pictures pictures pictures. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
