I hope someone could help me here. The wife came home with a nice 8’ chain harrow and a lift bar (?)

Here is a pic… (note this isn't the one I have, mine is better built, well it seems to be and I have a loop in the middle as well as the one at the end)

Now I am just assuming this is a “make it work if you can” type thing… Am I correct on this or is this thing really made to move a chain harrow? Any help or pictures you can give me to set this thing up would be great.

If needed, I could take a picture in the AM and post it, just let me know.

Try just hooking some chain to the back and two chain to the front, as the attached pic shows (I hope). This will carry the harrow on the boom (this is if I understand your question /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

It would help if you posted a graphic of what you're calling a chain harrow. The one "beenthere" posted is NOT what I'd call a chain harrow.

If you got one like mine (see attachment) you're not going to pick it up without a frame.

As the others said.. you have a boom pole and a chain harrow. And yes.. you can fab a box bracket / frame as Greg mentions, to make it a 'pick up' style. For ideas, hit northern tool and look at implements.. I'm pretty sure they sell one. With some angle iron and chains you could 'make yours work'.

This is a shot of it in the air. One look at the dip in the chain harrow demonstrates why a frame is mandatory.

My "drawer" wouldn't handle that "chain" harrow, but thought the idea would come across. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Your pics do much better hittin the nail on the head.

I bought my chain harrow from Wingfield and it works great. Go to their site www.wingfields.com and they have pics showing the harrow being towed by a tractor.

Greg... Yes that is what I am calling a chain harrow (I guess I could of called it a "chain drag"), and your pole is more or less like mine, but MINE is shorter (I think) and has two Less eye rings. So from your pics, I would have to build a frame for the harrow, it sure would be a pain to chain it up.

What beenthere posted is a thought of HOW to chain it up, I see where beenthere was coming from and I would think it would work, BUT by the time I got ALL that chain I think I could make the box like Greg stated... BUT thank you beenthere for the time you took to make that post.

I'll check the site, thanks Cottonhawk

Soundguy, I ll check out NTS and see what they have, thanks.

Thanks everyone for the input, please keep it coming.

Egon... Mostly just to SMOOTH drag for horse clean up. I know I don't need the lift to move it if I have the SMOOTH side down. I just want to be ready when I need to chop up some ground and the points are down. Yes I know I could move it to where I want THEN flip it over, but the lift would be allot easier if I have to move it say to a 100x100' spot then move it a gain to another spot.
