Hi, All-

We have a Kubota L3130HST. I'm looking for info on implements to get rid of stumps and/or mesqute trees in the pasture. Got any recommendations or should I find someone with a dozer to do the dirty work?

Thanks!

Dave,
I have an M5700 with a Woods9000 backhoe I used for stumps. It did the job but was slow. When I moved into the new house I had a field full of boulders, tree stumps & hard tac. It would have taken me years to clean it up. I hired an old gentleman with a dozer. He charged me $70 an hour. He worked half a day for a week or two & cleaned up the whole field. He then burnt all the slash. Total cost was about $3,300.

I plan on renting a BH from that outfit just west of Bastrop on the south side of 71. I've got a bunch of little oak stumps and some big cedar ... and a smattering of mesquite. Probably won't be til spring though. If it's full so it's hard to walk through - hire a dozer with grubbers. He'll need to get as many of the roots as possible too if there's that much. The few I've got I'll just burn out. I've got 10 acres in S'ville west, 8 over by Indian Lake, and 20 in Pin Oak just south of Paige.

Dozer is best as long as he can get the nut of the stump. You also will need to figure a way to clean up the scattered thorns, they will haunt you for years.
I have been using the slow method...chainsaw, my little snapper riders for mulching thorns then BH for the stump. So far one flat ( tractor) in 3.5 yrs on a ft. tire.
