Me and a buddy were trying to set the trusses on my new 24' x 40' shop and they were "kicking our butt" the trusses are 7\12 scissor trusses and while not very heavy are very difficult for 2 people to handle..............so I go into "McGyver mode" and put one of my forks on the bucket then slip a basement jack I had lying around over the fork, I run a heavy nylon lifting strap down the basement jack tube and run a bolt through it, then I bend a piece of rebar and attach it to the strap and I have a custom truss boom pole, it worked great and the 2 of us had the trusses up in no time.... check out the pics below...

Steve,
Thanks for sharing your good idea with us. But, I want to compliment you on your building design, with the brick and block base. Looks like you've put a lot of thought and extra work into your shop design. Please post pictures of the finished product. It looks like beautiful workmanship. Keep us posted. Yugo

Thanks Yugo,

This is our first new home (I'm building a home to go along with the shop) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif with 26 years of planning behind us, I helped my father build several new homes years ago and said I'd never do it myself but things change.

The shop will be my woodworking shop, it has hydronic radiant heat in the floor and 6" dust collection ductwork under the concrete as well, the door will be 12' x 10'.

Here's a link to my webpage with pictures of the project from the start
I update it with new pictures every couple days.

Which DC will you be using in the shop?

Ever visited the forums at www.woodnet.net?

Hi Mike,

I sold my Grizzly 3hp Dust Collector when we sold our last home, I'm going to install a 3 or 5 hp Cyclone in this shop, probably the new Grizzly or the Clear Vue which is Bill Pentzs design..... yep I also hang out over at woodnet /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
