I'd like to get more information on backhoes. I'm looking at a 7-1/2' reach and want to know if anyone has information about them. Particularly the Farmline 220, Mazzotti 230 and the Prarie Dog Ditch digger. They are attached via the 3pt but I've also heard that sub-frames can make a difference in their performance.
I think they are all self contained and run their pump off the PTO. My usage will be to dig trenches for watering, gutters for the road, and various usage such as uprooting small trees and such. I'd like to know which one is strong, heavy and durable. Also if one outperforms the other. Any problems that they may have?
Any input would help.

I have tried a number of backhoes. Bradco, in my opinion, makes the best one, hands down. Now, I do understand that Woods has come out with a new model. It is supposed to be very good as well. I have a 511 and it is a great hoe. Lots of threads on sub frame. I would not use one if it was not sub frame mount. Think about it. You are wedged between the hoe and the tractor. Talk about a pinch point! Good luck.

Does anyone have any pictures of a sub-frame and a description of exactly how it works? I would like to add one but I'm not sure how to do it to relieve stress and the pinch point(s).
Any help/hints/advice would be appreciated.

So a search for "sub frame".
