really not trying to beat this to death but some good info I thought and as usual lots of pictures. And those are the most fun anyway.

first pic, as suggested I tried to flip the U flex bracket upside down. not enough room to get the pin in and still have it move.

BTW I have 7 pictures total, so give me some time to get them all in.

this is the link in what I think is the OEM position, the second hole is burned in by the previous owner.

this is the link stop as pictured in the KK parts manual. Since I bought the mower used, painted it black, goound down the previous owners welds of the link, it's hard to tell if something was there before. It's actually a TSC brand but looks exactly like the KK model.

with the link in place you can see I can still get the rear wheel off the ground. Later I had to extend the top link because the mower was at to much of an angle. the wheel still comes off the ground but not quite this much.

here a picture of the link with the deck up. looks a bit tight but this in the all the way up position, not where it is when mowing.

a weak picture but I set this box under the mower and let the 3pt hitch down, you can see how the front is down but the wheel is up.

and lastly this is a picture of the link in the bottomed out position. yes the rear of the mower can go up so far before it'll lock up this link to. I bet even the link under the pin will stop out at some point. While mowing on semi rough ground the link is constantly moving, so it's working. This is much better that being welded solid before. Still it won't allow any downward travel. But I think the only configuration that would allow that is no top link what so ever. So I'm going to keep her like this for now.

Oh anyone thinking of using a 4' mower to mow ANY sort of size please forget about it. Unless you spend all day on the tractor. I was cutting some BIL's place and it was getting old. This combo is great for small places and especially cutting trails and briar patches around deer leases. In the latter case you are usually making one pass in and one pass out.

Good Luck,
Rob

oh if anyone wants to get really fancy I have a .MOV file of the link working. I'll email it.

Nice pictures, thank you.
I was thinking about buying a trailer hitch with a clevis on one end that's rated for 6000lbs. If the clevis allows my toplink to fit in it, I could drill a hole in the other end to add a hitch pin connecting it to the brushhog.

I think you can buy them at Northern Tool for about $20. I think it's about 9" long total.....think that would work?
Thanks,

If you have access to a welder just cutting 3 pieces and welding to form the U Would be just as good and a custom fit. Drill some holes and go. Instead of a fancy swivel bushing inside you could just put in a long bolt through the holes and double nut it. OK not the fanciest thing but it'll work. Around here my bush hog gets the beat up work, the finish mower gets the smooth clean stuff. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
