Kubota B3030 back Hoe..?

I bought a 2175 Great Bend (same as Bush Hog) backhoe for $5600.00 last week for my 2005 Kubota MX5000. I run it off my newly installed rear remotes ($800.00). The tractor rear remotes supply more than enough flow to operate the backhoe. The PTO pumps are about as expensive as having the rear remotes installed, but you can also use the rear remotes to run other 3pt. attachments.

( I believe the 2630/3030 have the rear hydraulics standard to drive the BH75, there is no added charge. The $500 rear hydraulics you are referring to is to add rear hydraulic control valves as would be used for top and tilt or things like that.

For a backhoe, all you need is a source of pressure since the BH has all of its own valving.

I don't want the complexity of a PTO pump, pump attachment etc etc )

Duhhhhh!??? You might be right???

( It appears that the rear hyd's for my rig would run about $500-550...and the PTO pump seems to go about $750. Only hing is like one other poster said..I wouldnt have to drain the HYD fuild as often in the BH if its a seperate system...because IM SURE I would never have the hours on it like I shall on the B3030...not that I'll ever have many hours on it even.

To me..it seems like 2 seperate systems are the better choice..??? )

I don't see how or why one would want drain the fluid in the BH since it is just like any attachment...on and off when needed kind of thing and a hassel to keep up with BH worked hrs. and good luck trying to drain all the fluid out of all three cylinders, that would be a mess.
The fluid gets changed everytime you run the BH anyway.

If you went with the PTO driven pump then yes you would need to keep up with the hrs for the fluid changes.

This all boils down to what you are going to be comfortable working with really.

I have a Kubota L3010 with a Bush Hog Backhoe that runs off the tractor's hydraulics. I think it is a good set-up. I would recommend that do some digging, have some one show you how to install and remove, and check for leaks before you pay for it. I needed a HD flange kit in the backhoe's manifold. Also, having a some extra hydraulic line might help sometimes when hooking the unit up. I stored the unit on a big chuck of firewood, and sometimes it fell over, now it is propped up on on stack of 4 by 12's. Sometimes a pain to hook up, others a breeze, I am sure concrete slab would be ideal. I also had rear remotes installed when I got the BH. The TNT is nice, but there are a lot of nice implements that have hydraulic cylinders, such as discs, blades, potato diggers, log splitters.

Hello I have been reading your guy's post for sometime and have enjoyed many of the discussions, So I feel it is time to throw in my 2 cents worth. I have a L3430 with a BH750 backhoe attached to it. I have the rear mounted PTO pump on mine and bought it this way for 2 reasons. First I wanted a hydro system seperate from my tractors system in case of leaks on the BH and to keep trash out of my tractors Hydro system that could come from the BH. Second I have heard and have been told by my dealer that BH systems that run off the tractor hydro pump wears out the tractor pump faster. And those pumps are a lot more expensive to replace then PTO driven ones.

Hope this helps you

Do I know you? The reason I ask this is because that is EXACTLY what a "farmer friend" that has been giving me assistance told me..TO THE LETTER!!! Seperate hyd system...tractor pump wear...etc..etc.. Amazing!!

Do Kubota BH's come either / both ways? ( PTO pump..non PTO pump???)

So a PTO hyd pump just recirculates the fluid in the smallish pump and then the implement. This seems like a potential overheating problem. Do you think that the lack of a large reservoir of cooled hydro fluid will be a problem? I have worked with excavators that heat up that hydro fluid very hot while just digging. If they hadn't had a big reservoir with a cooler I wonder if the whole trackhoe would have burnt down. What about filtration? The seperate system is handy to keep the tractor's fluid clean but the BH system needs to be clean to keep that expensive implement in good shape. Cool, clean, plentiful fluid is available from the tractor but how does this PTO pump provide with respect to these things?

Tractor hydraulic pump is always running whether you use it or not when engine is running. How would using a PTO pump save the tractor pump? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

On my friends BH it HAS a seperate filter and some sort ( dont know how large is it) seperate reservoir...and then there is the relative amount of usage to contend with also. I know my friends has run about 45 minutes total in the last 3 weeks....when he came hee to my place and rooted out 3 stumps for me. Thats it. I know that when I get one..I'll STILL be using the FEL about 10 times more than the BH.
