I had planned on picking up a 84" 3ph rock rake for my DK45 Kioti which is about 70" wide at the rear wheels . Now I am starting to think maybe I want a 96" width ???? .
I figure that it will be angled most of the time anyway and also get the job done faster . Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

I'm inclined to think the wider the better, so long as you have the power to pull it.

You can easily remove a few tines from the ends if needed. It's a lot harder to make it wider /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a rock rake, we call them landscape rakes around here, and I have found that I rarely use it at an angle. Surprisingly, I use it in reverse direction more than I use it in the forward direction. It digs better in reverse. I mean it doesnt hop over big sticks. Probably a geometry issue.

Anyway, I use my rake for two main purposes.
-Pushing sticks and tree debris into a brush pile (reverse).
-Raking my driveway rocks (forward).

My point is that if you rake mostly rocks, then you might not need to angle it.

obtw, I took off every other tine and now it works better for me...because it doesnt drag as much dirt into my brush pile or pull the driveway rocks like a blade, but instead the rocks go thru the tines and the rake just smooths them out.

my equip:
Kubota L3130, rear tire width = 66", rake = 72"

Personally, I wouldn't want a wider rake, but I can see why you might like one. . . as one poster mentioned, just take off some tines if it is too wide....good suggestion.

I bought the 84" for my DK45s and it's very maneuverable. I have bought all my attachments so that all I have to worry about is the tractor width. The 84 angled on my DK meets this requirement. The 96 would definitely extend beyond the tractor width angled. Just my 2 cents! The tractor will pull anything your thinking about..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Al, if you have reasonably open land, I'd go with the 96" rake. I like the logic of gsssmi about tractor width issues, but you're living up there in the wide open spaces "where the deer & the antelope roam" while Greg lives in western PA where there are lots of trees and tight hilly land.

Just my $0.02 but from past conversations with you I doubt you would have the manuverability issues that some of us have on our smaller parcels of land. And there is no question in my mind that the 45 could pull a 96" rake with ease.
