I'm trying to pick between these two rotary cutters for a JD 4400 that I'm very close to buying.

They are close enough in price for $ to not make too much difference.

The Farm King is about 100lb heavier and 10 guage as opposed to 11.

Would you recommend one over the other for any reason?

I have a LX6 equipped with a slip-clutch for my 5103 and have taken down heavy brush and have no problems, /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif yet. I'd say go with green you know there will be parts down road.

I can't speak for performance but I wouldn't worry about parts or service. Farm King is Allied/Buhler/Versatile. They aren't going anywhere. They manufacture their stuff in Manitoba so they are right next door to you. Farm king is one of the standard aftermarket implements here on the Canadian Prairies and is built heavy Duty. Look at their web site they are no Mom and Pop operation. Link to Buhler/ Allied/Farm King/Versatile

You did not say haw much those rotary cutter were. I have a Worksaver 5' cutter that is $900 and has an 8-guage deck. Many tractor dealers out there are Worksaver distis.
