After looking at the posts from Bird, PBurns, and DDT I got motivated to make a 3pt receiver hitch. Thanks all of you, the photos are a great way to help others see a design. This hitch works well.

Built and painted this Thursday evening. Started with a $10 junk yard Cat III receiver hitch. It obviosly didn't fit a truck, so it was cheap. Cut off (chop saw) the ends to make it standard 3pt width. Added 3/8 plates with draw pins and a 2x2x1/4 vertical piece. 2" is good because it is the correct width of the top link ball end. To this 2x2 I added side plates with 3/4" holes for the top link. Quick and easy. No bending required. All cutting can be done with a 14" chop saw. You will need hole saws for the drawpin and top link holes. Drill before you weld. Put the top link pin through the holes before you clamp.

The hitch ball and tube thing came off my truck.

I forgot to add chain hooks at the ends. Will do so next time the welder is out. I have also thought up a way to add a bale spear to this.

Hope some of the idease help others. I get almost all my steel at a non-automotive junk yard/ scrap dealer. $0.15 to $0.25 per pound. Has has good drops from local fabtication shops.

Ordered magnets for my Chalkey cup. Had to guess on the number. Awesome cup!

I mounted a receiver under my work platform. Backing up can be interesting with the hitch that far back of the axle. Last time I used it was on the back of my 8N. Not only was the quick response fun, I had a heavy tongue weight so I had to use the brakes to steer because the front wheels kept leaving the ground. The neighbors enjoyed the show and also learned to cuss fluently in English.

Thanks ya'll.

I used orange because TSC was sold out of blue. They did have Kubota Orange Rustoluem in a close out sale, till I bought them all. All of my projects will now be orange.

What is a work platform?

It looks like half a box and mounts to your three point hitch. Mine has a 3'x6' vertical upright that mounts to the TPH and a 4'x6' horizonal platform. It's shaped like an "L" with the tall part on the bottom.

Any chance you can post a picture of that platform? It sounds pretty handy.

I don't have a digital camera. I'll see if I can borrow one, might take a few days.
