you may be pushing it with that low of HP at the PTO. I've got a Kubota L3130 with net HP of 31 and 24HP at the PTO and it works great until I get to about 4.5" or larger trees. I've stalled it a couple of times with trees that big. The unit also is perty heavy at about 800lbs.
The JD2305 list the below as lift capacities. so it might be able to lift it (hopefully someone who owns a JD can give you better understanding of what it can handle, but the chipper weighs almost as much as the tractor so I would be concerned.

I also think Jinma makes a smaller chipper JM4 (4" chipper) I beleive. that weighs less. Is this a tractor you already own or are you thinking of buying?
Yeap... I think you are on the light side. Smaller unit is available. You might want to post in the JD section and get some feed back there on lift capacities. I run mine on 40hp tractor and runs fine. Have seen others post about running it on small units and also does fine, but not as well. However, where ever that line is, I think you are on the unsafe side of it. Scott - You are getting really lean with the horsepower on either tractor. You can "nurse" the limbs and trunks into a chipper but after an hour or two of that - you'll regret the day you spent the money on the chipper. If you have not yet bought a tractor - think about stepping up a few models and get closer to the 35 horse range. Best of luck to you. Clyde
The 4" Jinma chipper (JM4) has been mentioned here but I cannot find any dealer or even a mention in a Google search for a 4" model. Does anyone have this unit or know that it is really imported into the USA?
I was told that the 4" Jinma chipper was special order only,if you could still get it.They are so far behind in the 6" model it could be 6-months or longer
Looks like the 4 inch Jinma is 1) unobtainable in the near future, 2) almost the same price as the 6 inch. The reason I was interested is that I have a 20hp tractor and a 4 inch model seemed the more appropriate size. Has anyone used the 6" with a 20 hp CUT?
Thanks guys for all the info - I had not even heard of the 4" version of this unit. That may actually work better as it would be a better size for the tractor and I can burn (wood stove) anything above 4" anyway.
I haven't bought a tractor yet - anything above the 2210 or 2305 would really be overkill for what I need as the tractor's primary duty will be mowing my yard. So - bigger (and more expensive) isn't really an option.
Bottom line is that if I bought a chipper I would want it to be powered off of the PTO. If I cannot find one to do the job adequately then I guess I rent a unit for a day once a year or something.
I own and run a Jinma 6" chipper and I have agree that real issue is the weight of the tractor. Both of those models are right on the bottom edge of HP ratings for this chipper, but more important is the weight. This is a heavy chipper and mounted to my Kioti CK30 which weighs over 3000 lbs it is noticeable when transporting. I don't have any trouble running the chipper with this tractor (30 hp - 23 PTO hp). However I really don't think you could carry it very far with out some serious counter balance weight on the front.
