The groundskeeper where I work recently bought a Deere sweeper from our local dealer. He said he paid $380 for it.

Home Depot has a Deere sweeper for around $200. (Check it out here.)

I see two possibilities here:

1. Deere dealers sell a different type of sweeper, similar to the L-series mowers versus LTs, etc.

2. Our groundskeeper got a seriously raw deal.

Knowing this guy, it's hard to believe #2, but it seems more realistic than #1.

Thoughts? And yes, I have considered the 3-bag collection system, but I have several reasons not to get it. The sweeper will work much better for me.

Won't touch that 'question' as there are too many unknowns. Try an easier one. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

John Deere sells two models of sweepers or I assume they still do. The $380 model is probably the 38T which is superior to the other model (forgotten model number). I have owned both models and their operation is different. I used the 38T for several years on my 3 acres without any problems. When it became time to replace brushes and a gear I opted for the new cheaper model instead. It was a pain to operate from the beginning. I kept it two seasons and gave it away. I purchased a commercial sweeper for $700 and I am pleased with its operation. However, if I had it to go over again I would have repaired the 38T or purchased a new one. JD does not mention a sweeper in their lawn maintenance catalog or their web site.

Dutch,

Is this the aforementioned 38T you're describing? From the sounds of it, there are two types of sweepers. If I go to my dealer to get one, how do I make sure I'm not getting the Home Depot version and paying for the higher-end version?

No, sorry,
that's the only sweeper I can find anything about.
I think the 38T is out of production, may have
been for a while..

Maybe somebody has one laying around they aren't using?
