Has anyone delt with a Woods PRD series of rear discharge mowers? I'm going to sell a KK 72" mower this spring and was going to buy a Woods RD8400 finish mower until I was on the Woods web site and saw they had this new PRD8400. I would like to find out what the difference is between the two. My local dealer didn't know much about them except for there was a $500 difference between the RD8400 and the PRD8400. BTW would anyone have a picture of a RD84? I have never seen one at the dealer, only lots of RD7200s. I hope Woods will have the new series at the national farm show next month so I can see one in person.

Thanks,
Mike

I bought a new RD60 last spring and I really like it. I have not seen what you are talking about, I'll go over to Woods and check it out.

The PRD series was'nt around when I bought the RD60. From looking at the online brochure, the PRD series weighs more, has solid tires, 60hp gearbox instead of 35 hp, faster blade tip speed.

When I bought mine I chose between the RD60 and the RD6000. Of course the RD6000 cost more (can't remember how much) and had solid tires (big deal). The biggest tie breaker for me was the difference in weight. I have some serious hills that I finish mow and I wanted to drag around the least amount of weight possible. Here's the only pic of mine.

I wish all of my implements were Woods, but the money tree is a little slow to produce. As I said I'm VERY happy with the RD60/72 series (price and performance.) The grass looks great when done! I'm sure you'll be happy with whichever model you buy.

Thanks for the picture Mega me. My ground is all flat so I don't think weight will be an issue. That is a VERY nice backhoe you have. I wish I could have one but Mrs. Newblue would not like it at all. She would let me keep the backhoe but sell the tractor!

I have a woods PRD720 "new model" and the only difference that I can see is the brackets that hold the wheels are made of square tubing and the RD720 has flat bar to hold the wheels on the deck, also the hook up is flat bar with the pins, the PRD has the slot that you push the removable pin through on both sides of the ball and use a clip instead of a pin.

Bit the bullit last Sat. and ordered a PRD8400. Time will tell if the new series is a good one. It was pointed out to me that the gear box is rated for 60 hp and on the RD series the gearbox is 40 hp.
