Hi,

To cut a long story short I replaced the gearbox on the rotary cutter and tried to use the rotor as is. It mostly worked but was 1cm short from seating completely home even after bashing it enthusiastically with a sledge hammer. So now I need to take it off again before I use it and do it properly (don't want to risk the $680 gearbox). I'll get a pro to cut the old gearbox's female spline off and weld on the one that came with the new box but the problem is this:

Remember the bit about bashing it enthusiastically? Well it won't come off easily. This is where I need some idea's? I'll post some pictures tomorrow but for now....help?

Stephan.

Can you heat the rotor with a A/C torch?

Can you wedge something between the hub and ??? to force it out?

Can you place a gear puller on it, and then beat it a little?

My only suggestions without a pic.

Ahh brilliant. I bought a gear puller and tapped the spline while tightening the puller and it just came off.

Thanks.

Always great to see a simple but clever idea solve a problem efficiently and completely. Well done guys.
