Where do I begin.....
I've got a couple heavier mowers. I NEED a lighter weight, 6' bush hog. It will stay at a piece of property I own. (I'll haul the tractor there when needed.) The best price on a name brand piece is the SQ72 "Squeeler" Bush Hog brand mower.

Anyone have one? How do they hold up? (I won't be doing much rough stuff, mostly cutting weeds and tall grass)

At this point, I don't need suggestions on other options, just a report on the SQ72.

Thanks.

The SQ series are my best sellers. They are priced right, have a nice gear box, heavy duty trail wheel, heavy stump jumper, can be fitted with the 7556 heavy duty BushHog blades, and has a slip clutch. I really think, after you described what you will be cutting, that this machine will be all that you will ever need at that property.

Curious about what kind of prices you are seeing? I need a light weight 6’ mower also.

Gamble, I didn’t know there were options on the blades available. Can you give me some insight on the differences?

Yeah, the heavy duty blades are part number 00007556 and are almost twice as thick, same curve and everything...surely worth the extra $$

Haven't seen or used an SQ72, but I used to have a 48" squealer and I have a cousin who still has a 60" one. Both of us used them sometimes for much heavier stuff than they're rated for, but never hurt them.

I've hade my SQ72 for over 2 years now. I have cut some pretty heavy stuff with it with no problems.
I had some areas with sapplings that I have cleared, but it is used mostly to cut grown up fields and wild blackberries etc.

Sounds like they're a better match for my needs than i first thought. I'm able to get one tomorrow for $1600. The same dealer has a 286 Bush Hog mower (Medium duty) for $2075. Questions... Is the 286 equipped with those heavier blades? I see where it's over 300 lbs heavier and equipped with a gearbox rated for 110 HP. First prices I got on the 286 were well over $2400. I don't want to spend that much.

You might want to look a Rhino SE6 and the TW-72. There are several dealers in KY. We sell the SE6 for $1,400 and the TW-72 for $2,000.

Thought about that.

...For about a minute.

I've ran searches for Rhino dealers in Kentucky. I found 5 with-in a two hour drive. (Any farther than that, and I have to start looking at cost involved in transporting as a major factor in the final price) All five seemed relatively indifferent about selling one. Three said they didn't stock any and would only consider ordering when they sold 4 or 5 to make it worth their while. The other two were asking over list price, and didn't know when they could get me one. I got the distinct impression they didn't want to bother selling one.

Now if you'd ship me one, delivered to my doorstep, for $2000, I'd consider. (The TW-72) Since my last post, I've found a Bush Hog 286 with chain gaurds installed, delivered to my shop door for $2025. As of now, that seems to be the best deal.
