Ok...I'll retry my question here in attachments.

Im going to "attempt" to bury "some" ( small distance actually) electrical wire using a sub soiler. Ive read on the BB here where guys have done it ( although I have lost the thread ???) and it was said they welded a steel ring on the rear of it and the wire runs thru the ring and down in the gound trench.

1) How LARGE of a ring ( or does it matter?)
2) How far up or down the shank of the subsoiler ( or does that matter either?)
3) A ROUND "ring" or just "anything"? Meaning a steel "loop" such as a LG chain link shaped "ring" or ??

Any dimensions would help MUCHO..and if someone has posted a pic for me to see..additionally it would be much help.

Thanks.

I seen it done before. The individual purchased a pre bent curved electrical "L" at Lowes with a couple of clamps. He placed a cap on the top so the wire would not be cut when being pulled through. Clamp the "L" to the rear of the sub-soiler.In theory the wire will be pulled through by the dirt as it falls back in place. You will need someone to feed the wire or fashion a roller assembly for the wire to be easily extracted from.

I borrowed my FIL's 3pth ripper/subsoiler that he made from a ripper tooth scavanged from a 14 CAT grader. He used it to bury electric lines and had welded a short section of pipe to the backside of the ripper tooth (near the bottom of the tooth) that the wire runs down through into the ground. You must carry the wire spool and walk beside the tractor as you pull the ripper. The drag of the tooth through the ground would pull the wire and bury it. However, I needed to bury 350' of #6AWG aluminum wire. It took 2 people to move the spool. So... after a fit and a start and another fit. I buried the cable with my backhoe.
Short distance -- easy, quick. Good idea. Long distance -- need a mounting system for the spool or just rent a BH.
(Sorry, I can't post a photo.) Need to get one of those new, digital do-hickey's. Or one with a cell phone. Yah, that's it! I could be out on the tractor; talking on the phone like everyone in their cars and the airport and.... (Sorry, I got all caught up in the idea of it!!!) /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif AKfish

I modified my Sub Soiler by drilling 2 holes in the trailing edge of it near the bottom. I then used muffler clamps to hold a piece of 2" pipe on the back, the pipe was bent with a 90-degree turn. I simply pulled some wire through the pipe and staked it in place at the start of my run. I began to drive and lowered the sub-soiler into the ground while allowing the wire to feed into the top of the pipe. It buried the wire perfectly and very quickly.

That B6100 has about 14 Net HP and you were able to bury that pipe 8-10" in relatively good soil.

Does anyone have experience on a larger CUT burying a bit deeper with this type of setup?

I have a NH TC30 4WD. I would like to bury some 1" poly about 16".

Thanks in advance for any advice toward the implement mfr or model would be appreciated. I can weld if necessary and modify the subsoiler/middle buster used.

I havent needless to say ...but a close friend/tractor adviser... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif...has..using a 75 HP International he owns using a "true" sub soiler. He says when he sinks his in deep...it makes the rear tires squirm and look like wrinkle wall racng slicks!!! He had to install more than 200 feet of large flex tubing like that to get to a faucet for water his cows. He calls these TSC "middle busters / "sub soilers"...potato diggers.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thats my problem at this point Bob. Trying to figure out exactly how to attach the elbow to the back of the subsoiler..and NOT have it permanent.

I know this wasn't your original question, but when it came time to lay wire out to our garage, the electrician told us to bury it deep. Also, part of it was going under a driveway.. perhaps that's why. We got in a backhoe and put it about 3 feet down. Also, we're in upstate NY and the temperatures and frost might have a bearing on this.
