Can anyone give me an idea if $8400 is a reasonable price for a Woods bh80 backhoe? It does not sound reasonable to me. Heck, that is nearly the price of a Bh90 I was quoted at $8900. I could almost buy a used Case 580 with extend-a-hoe for that! Are these hoes actually priced more reasonably in your areas?

Thanks

Get the case 580. Cummins engine, big time power, save your tractor for tractoring. The 580 will be much more capable and will be an excellent bcakup machine.

I am not amused by the prices of backhoes. Even the 6000$ ones. I could sure use a BH.

The 580C did not have a Cummins Engine. The first Backhoe Case put out with a Cummins Engine was the 580 Super D. Then the 580 Super E had the cummins. Then the 580K came out with the Case Engines again.

I knew some did, but apparently not all had cummins. Whichever engine it has, it will produce much more power to run the hydraulics and loader. The full size BH will be a little harder to move via trailer though.

Right-on!!! I followed the forum's advice getting the largest tractor I could afford: a Kubota M6800. Guess what? I quickly learned it's still not a piece of construction equipment. After being similarly "not amused" by the prices of hoe attachments I bought a used (but not abused) Case 580E Super for about the same numbers.

Now, not only do I have a real construction-grade hoe, I can use the Case loader for the tougher work I might have had to really push the Kubota on.
