Backhoe 3 pt hitch backhoe success stories?

There is also the safety issue of getting crushed between the tractor and backhoe while operating. My top link broke, and there was just enough room such that I was not injured, but there was no room to spare. That is when you make certain you push the hydraulic lever the correct direction. I have heard other folks have not been as fortunate.

3RRL and all,

I have the KAMA 454, the same as yours minus one cylinder. I bought a used, (very used), Ford 758 BH. Not sure what the original setup was but It has two large frame members. It has the pins for the arms of the 3PH and are mounted on these two frame members. The frame members are 1/2 x 4" and go under the tractor about 36". so basically, it has the the 3PH setup with large frams to go back to the axel at the ROP. I plan to weld a 4x4" by 40", the width of the ROP mounts. I figure this will tie the BH frame to the FEL frame. The top link attachment is a large pair of diagonal members going from near the lower pins for the 3PH arms up to the tractors top link holes. This is not ajustable. The top link attachment should prevent the BH from wanting to raise up.

I would like to see a factory setup of a BH subframe for two reasons; 1 to insure I have covered all loading and 2. easy attachment! So any details phots would be great.

As I side note. This very used BH is getting all new control valves. It has a new Prince 21 gal/min PTO pump. Hoses will be next. This got me to thinking how nice it would be to have the BH set up so I could opperate it from the tractors seat. I thought if I could mount the stack of control valves at the the top link location, I'd just need to swivel the seat as the big boys do. What do you think?

Thanks

psj12,
I'm planning on doing so. However, it will probably be a while. My tractor is at camp, 250 miles from where I'l be doing the fabrication. I'll have to do it piece by piece as I'm trying to design it NOT to interfere with attachiing my other implements. I've got the connections points on the tractor frame figured out and also on the backhoe, but I'll have to mount the frame parts and possibly dis-assemble it each time until it's complete.

I'm afraid to weld the whole thing up until it's mounted and all the connections are correct. I want to make sure the part of the subframe that's left bolted on the tractor will clear everything. I'm sure you can understand it's not going to be easy doing it this way. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This is the one that really puts the stress and strain on the tractor.

<font color="green"> the backhoe would see intermittent duty - mainly digging foundations for our porch additions, various and sundried culverts on our 46 acres and possibly excavating the roots around larger trees that need to be removed.

I have a 9' 3PH style BH.The major difference is,I made up a sub frame to mount it too. When mounting or removing from the tractor,I do it with the sub frame attached to the backhoe.I agree with the other TBN'ers, the stress on the tractor is tremendous. You possibly could get away with it with the larger tractors,(60 hp up) the smaller machines no so forgiving.
