This is what I would consider close in digging with dipperstick rod extended.

BTW here's the nice little bend in the rod. Also, sorry for hi-jacking my own thread, started out as a question then about damaged equipment.

Thank you for the pics. Looking at the first one, none of the angles seem extreme to my inexperienced eye. What is it about that position that causes the damage, and is it relegated to all backhoes or just a certain size?

I don't have experience with other BH's but I know that this cylinder on the BH75 has been deemed suspect. If you do some searches on TBN dating back to early 2005 you will find out why. If you can find it, a TBN member who had re-occuring issues posted a video clip of the rod failure in action.
