Re: cheap 5\' mower on ebay

Once again, note they " will ship to the United States ". This is typical of the " pay now and we'll order it for you from China " sellers.

Not sure this is a pay now we'll ship when the boat gets in kinda deal. The seller does say that "will deliver up to up to 60 miles away from 53083 for no charge". Sounds to me like the mower might be in stock.

Something I don't understand about ebay - this fellow has a lot advertised, big items, with no reserve.

Don't know that a person can do that with new items you are reselling? Would be different if this was cleaning out his barn, but these are some new items....

So, how can it all be legit no reserve items?

All in how you want to read it I guess. Can you also explain the "will ship to the United States" statement? The way I put that together is
1. Pay me
2. I order
3. it arrives from China
4. I deliver within 60 miles

If I'm wrong, I apologize. My interpretation is only as good as what I see on the web page.

Re: cheap 5\' mower on ebay

Fair point, however, I just checked the guys old auctions and feedback. He seems to deliver to the customer's satisfaction whatever route he takes. He sells a few unrelated items but about 8 of his last 10 sales were new engines or tractor implements that have the "made in China" look about them. All feedback was positive so he cannot be dorking people around much.

I think he is just one of these new Ebay businessmen. He lists the items with no reserve but if you look at the final bid prices they are not rediculous bargains. Cheap but not absurdly low prices for the type of quality you'd expect from these off brand China made implements. I would guess he preorders stock and lists it on Ebay just about the time the goods come off the boat. Low storage costs, no showroom, no sales people. Pass through on final delivery costs. All adds up to a low rent operation which must might be successful even with low prices. I'd imagine his real competition is Homier or some other discount box store that specializes in Chinese implements.
