Well, I'll be ordering a WR Long grapple rake shortly, and am wondering about replacing my front tires (I've been warned they're not long for the world anyway...). I need to keep the same diameter, as it is a 4wd tractor (33hp), but I'm wondering if anyone has ever gone to a WIDER tire for more flotation. I'll be picking up some trees and branches in moist areas and would prefer not to sink TOO much....

Has anyone done this before? Clearance side to side does not appear to be an issue....

Thank you for your time,

Shouldn't have a problem as long as it fits on the rim correctly.

I wouldn't think there would be a problem. Like you say, circumference is your limit. Might want to take a few measurements at full lock to check for clearance.
On my 2WD 5005 Mahindra, I went from the stock 7.5X16 to 11.00X16 w/ no problems. And it SURE helped w/ the FEL. Front end no longer falls out of sight in muddy cowlot.

As long as they are the same height you should be fine. When you change the height you change the ratio between the front and rear axles and that can possibly cause mechanical problems.

that's what I thought...though now I'm starting to look for tires and I can't even find them in an R4!! I would have thought 8-16 would have been a somewhat standard size...but I appear to be very wrong! My local ag/ ind. tire dealer has nothing other than R1's, and I have yet to find ANY 8-16 's on line. Anyone have any good sources for tires out there? I'm in upstate NY, but have no problem with mail order / internet....
