Hi folks-

What do you all think of the Frontier 48" BB and the 60" blade? One dealer I've talked to says the Frontiers are ok, but believes the Bush Hog BB and blade to be far superior. Experiences? Thoughts? Other brands you have found to be high quality and good price? Thanks!

Mike,

Usually when I feel the need for a new implement, I look at the Woods brand. The old man always had Woods stuff and I followed suit with buying a Woods rear blade and finish mower. The price is up there but it's good stuff.

As far as the box blade....as mentioned in your other post, I "wanted" a Woods box blade, but since I thought that I would never use it, I went to TSC and bought the King Kutter for just under $500.00. As I found out, I use it all the time and it has held up great.

Check out this lengthy post, BOX BLADE :: PHOTO comparision of brands

Hope this helps, Joe.

The Frontier is a Woods. The warranty card and manuals come from Woods. My 72" has been great with the only complaint being that each two rippers are held in place by a single retainer. If the tractor is running while I'm adjusting the rippers they often fall out from the vibration and my inability to hold two teeth at a time. I've torn out huge roots with this blade and have yet too sustain any damage.

I have a 48" KK box blade ($375 at TSC) for my 21HP Kubota B7510HST. It does everything I need it to do around my 10-acre spread (flat ground, weeds, a few dozen almond trees).

Will be using it for some landscaping work later this month to scrape the weeds from shrub planting areas.

My parcel is square, 1/8mile per side. I use the BB to cut an exercise path along the fenceline. No problem. It's about an hour's job to keep the weeds down witht he BB along the path.

It weighs around 300 lb, and works better with about 100 lbs of added weight.

I have a 3510 Branson and a 5' KK boxblade. 2 weeks ago someone up the street decided to burn some trash. I might add that the winds were gusting to 35 MPH. The fire got out of hand on 25 wooded acres behind a friends house. I took the tractor with box blade up there and was back grading the fire to keep it away from my friends house. I was scraping heavy brush and palmettas. I got things under control and turned the fire away enough to keep my friends house out of trouble.
I didn't have time to be gentle or even pratical, I was giving it all I had and when done I had managed to bend the 1/2" X 4" mounting braces on the blade but the blade took all I gave it. I would rather have the braces bend than break the tractor.
I would give the KK a 10 out of 10. If you look at the blades they have a curve to them making them stronger and being back to back adds to strength too. I'm very satisfied with mine.
