Quick Attach \"Quick Clear Grapple Rod Bucket\"

Has anyone purchased, used, or even seen one of these?

Check it out

Perhaps they are Internet challenged as I never got a reply to an email I sent or to a submission on their "contact us" page.
My needs are scooping up smooth roundish rocks (that are killing my tiller). Some of them are darn near basketball sized. And also clearing brush and consolidating rotting logging operation leftovers.
This thing looks perfect for me, but I don't know much. I am pretty new to tractors /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Also, I would need a skid steer adaptor for my JD loader. They make one, HERE .
JD makes something that allows me to use skid steer stuff, but I think it requires you to replace something, making it time consuming to swap between JD buckets and skid steer attachments... right? Whereas the Quick Attach unit can be left stuck to this grapple bucket I want to get... right? Or I can use it for any other skid steer toys, I guess.
Are there any benefits or drawbacks to going either way?

Any insight on this matter would be greatly apreciated!

Here's the one I want on eBay. Perhaps I should use the eBay interface to contact them (or just call them, duh).

Re: Quick Attach \"Quick Clear Grapple Rod Bucket\"

I looked in your profile, are you thinking of using this on a 3520 with a 300x loader?

If so I think that bucket may weigh enough to eat up most of your lift capacity.

I have been looking into getting something similar, albeit a little smaller for my 4120 and 400x loader.

WR long has some nice grapple buckets and depending on the size, probably a little lighter.

They have both a "root grapple" which i guess is another name for an easy clear, a regular grapple bucket, and also 4n1 buckets.

I have a thread about the choices i am torn between here:

Re: Quick Attach \"Quick Clear Grapple Rod Bucket\"

Thank you for the reply.
My primary reason for getting this particular style of bucket, if you can even call it that, is to pick the rocks out of my dirt. It would appear that sometime in the geological history of my place that it was a river bank. Indeed, the Clackamas river is only 500 feet or so away (but about 150 feet down). The result is a high density of these large, smooth rocks that make the tiller darn near hop off my tractor /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
And I am trying to plant some grass here. I envision a scooping effect where I sort of sift through the top layer and catch all these rocks and then deposit them somewhere.
Also, I have a few acres of blackberries growing over limb piles, stump chunks, and other random, woody debris.
The amount I need to lift at a time should not be too much. I wouldn't think 1,000 lbs anyways, the reserve my laoder should have even after that heavy sucker is put on there. It could be that I have the loader specs wrong. I found them here .

I checked out the very impressive WR Long products. I even called them. And I even tried to get the dealer I bought my JD from to pick them up so I could buy one. The closest current dealer is nearly an 8 hour round trip away. The WR Long 4N1 bucket weighs over 500 lbs and the root grapple just under 500. That makes Quick Attach bucket at 770 lbs seem kinda heavy... and then add on the skid steer adapter. But still, with a lift capacity of 1650 lbs (at 500 mm out from the pivot pin), I might be OK. If not, hearing so on this board would beat the heck out of paying all that money and not having an effective tool. How bad do you think it will be? Does a bucket load of rocks weight over 900 lbs? And it wouldn't be a heaping load. Just what I am able to finesse out of the ground.
Perhaps there is a better tool for sifting rocks? That doesn't cost 2 arms and a leg...

Oh, and I typoed the link in an earlier post. It should read 60". The link itself is good (points to the 60" product).

Re: Quick Attach \"Quick Clear Grapple Rod Bucket\"

If you are not going to lift those rocks very high, you might look at your loader's "break out" capacity. That's a higher rating the loader can achieve down low, while the rated capacity is the lower value it can lift to full height. (At least that was the way two of my loaders were rated)

I have one of those W R Long root grapples and would recommend it. I also agree on being able to sift on a job like yours and would avoid a 4 in 1 bucket for that reason if chasing those rocks is your main use.

Re: Quick Attach \"Quick Clear Grapple Rod Bucket\"

Well, I called them today.
Perhaps their stuff is uber quality. And/or they are really proud of it. Or perhaps it's just expensive as ****.
Regardless, they quoted me $300 more for the same bucket as they have on eBay. Odd. And the QA adatper? $1,000 /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Maybe it's dipped in gold.

Seems like such a great product. There is no way I am going to spend $~4k (bucket + adapter + shipping) on a bucket, however. Plus I still need the 3rd SCV and loader lines.

Does anyone else make an adapter like theirs? Seems like the ticket.
