What do you think is the biggest PTO driven hydraulic pump you can get for PTO is (highest flow)? I've got a standard 540 PTO with 38hp diesel (L39).

Reason I ask is that I'd like to take my snowblower and attach it to a quick-attach/3pt mount for the front end, so I can blow moving forward. I'm thinking I'll use the existing loader ports for the chute control and then run hydraulic lines from the rear PTO pump to the main blower. I'd be looking for something around 18gpm or more. Not sure if anything like that is available for 540 rpm PTO with my hp. My existing front ports put out something like 12gpm and I don't think that'll work great for a 75" blower, but maybe it will. I guess the thing to do is try it with the front existing ports first, then fall back on the rear setup if it's even an option. Any ideas on the PTO pumps?

Jim: Prince makes several PTO pumps; one of which is spec'd to output 21gpm at 540 rpm. They're available at Northern Tool.

Here is a 21gpm model at the Surplus Center , they will also have the other stuff you might need to get this project done

I've seen them up to 40gpm which at full pressure should be enough to stall your engine.

The only 40gpm pto pumps that I've seen are for PTOs that run at 1000rpm. I know Prince makes a 1000rpm pump that outputs 41gpm and one that outputs 23gpm.

In any case, you'd want to check the PTO hp requirements for those pumps carefully; even the 21gpm (540rpm) Prince PTO pump that I considered for my splitter required about 30 pto hp and that was coonsiderably more than my tractor delivers. I also decided that for my splitter application, a 2-stage pump was more efficient.
