I agree, but never heard'em called that until I met you./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Bush Hog is a brand name and they make quite a number of implements besides their "slashers"; i.e., backhoes, tillers, finish mowers, box blades, etc. Brush hog is the popular generic term, although they are also quite commonly called "shredders" in my part of the country (hmm, not too different from your slashers), but from what I've seen, the "official" term used by most, if not all, of the manufacturers is rotary cutter.

Rotary cutter. I assumed that was a slasher but wasn't 100 % sure. Most of u seem to refer to them as bish hogs.

Probably like we call line trimmers etc. "Weed Eaters" aven though you'd be flat out buying a "WeedEater" brand here if at all.

I like slasher. Sounds mean.
