How much plow for a Kubota L 3130DT?

sandy soil; you can probably get away with 3 bottoms.

Even with sandy soil, I'd go with a 2 bottom vs. a 3 bottom. Old rule of thumb is one HP per inch of plow. If you have 25hp at the drawbar you could handle 2x12=24hp. Even if you had 40 hp you need the weight to pull over 2 bottoms as well. If you can find a good old ford 101 3 bottom, you can try it and then take off the back bottom and have a 2 bottom. I gotta agree with what Bob stated. I have both a three bottom and a two bottom plow. I think the two bottom is a 2 by 16" and the three is a three by 14". Based on the soil in my area (yours may vary - mine is mostly hard clay), a two bottom 14" plow would be a pretty darn good match.

I agree with all the previous posts,a 2 bottom would probably be your best bet or like mentioned try a 3 and take off one if you need too. I pull a 3 bottom in pretty heavy soil with no problem with 55HP , it is not only the HP it is also getting enough traction, I will have to go to 4wd if soil is a bit wet etc..
If your tires are loaded , sandy type soil ,you just might be able to use a 3 bottom but I wouldn't bet on it.I would look for a good 2 bottom if it were me .

You will be a able to pull a 2 bottom 14" plow in sand with ease. It will be a struggle to pull 3. Also, the weight of the 3 bottom will require extra weight on the front end of the tractor. Your 32 HP tractor really isn't enough for 3 bottoms. Even in sand it still takes power.
