Backhoe Taylor Way backhoes

   / Taylor Way backhoes #31
Drove to Kentucky in a pickup truck and had a look at the 766, I bought it last winter, and put a good 40 hours on it last summer, almost got the smaller model (Taylor Way 700), sure am glad I bought this model.
What this can't do I'll live without, but any smaller and doubt I'd be happy. Way too many rocks and stumps here..Before I did any digging, made a subframe for it, feels solid and strong, pulled rocks weighing couple hundred pounds each with very little strain. My tractor with hoe weighs about 4000lbs, but if I don't add 500lbs of rock in the FEL it will toss the tractor a little.

Here's mine biting off more than it can chew.

I am looking for a taylor way dealer in or around Utah. Any ideas?
Thanks

Welcome to TBN slickrock;:)

Can't help you on your TW dealer question, but can tell you the TW hoe is very heavy duty and with minor issues has been GREAT for me.
Hope you find what you want, and good luck....

ps: I did find a place a lot closer that sold them but the salesman lied to me about cost on the phone, I called again right before I was to drive up and look (170miles) and the story changed ...a lot! I most likely woulda bought it from them if I hadn't been lied to.

irwin or philbuilt, did you guys ever post photos of your subframe?? (or can you, please :)). Thanks... Interested in how you attached the backhoe to the subframe.

Hi teg;

Really Phil's subframe is much better looking than mine, check out his pond building thread toward the end he has a picture of his.

Here's what I threw together.
..............

I then tacked them together, removed it, cut off excess, and welded it up then strenghtened it with gussetts.

Then I welded the piece for the TW top link on an angle like the Deere subframe is for the model 7 backhoe...Excuse the dirt and rust, don't have any better pic's.

irwin, Thanks!! That's what I was needing to see and also what I need to build... gotta'nother request? Do you have a photo of these two welds  (see attach) ...and, I'll look up Phil's... but I think I had seen it (and studied it) a dozen times already ;).

Teg,
Here is the link to my sub frame.
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/customization/95563-woods-1012-fel-mount-problem-2.html

The frame is Strong and did not take away any ground Clarence.
I may have a few more pic's on the pond link.
This top picture is the frame that I welded to the BH and that is how it
is connected in the front under the platform. just slides in.

You can see here how the frame is pinned. The draw bar would have been
enough. Better safe than sorry.

This little BH will pick up the back of the tractor on point and rotate and set it back down over left or right. I'm very impressed.
I hope that this helped.
Phil

Sorry teg: I don't have any better pictures now, but if you look at the picture you attached, and at these, the cross piece is 3/8 channel with 3/8 plate welded on back to box it in. The welds were finished after it all was tacked together later.

First off, thanks to you both for posting... Tim, I understand yours and lean towards that one... (I'll reply to Phil's work of art :) below). My subframe will look more like yours, two arms coming out the back with a triangle hookup for the top link (not sure if I'll use the tractors top link for extra support or not). I assume you use the backhoe to align the holes for the six bolts... then bolt it together. You don't have any other hooks or notches to help align the holes?

I have the subframe worked out (at least in my head ). I need more wisdom of how to mate the two together, and instead of "stealing" this thread, I should start a new one.

Phil, I loved how you used the draw bar... I might work that in. It's a great piece of work, and something to be proud of. I'm not worried about ground clearence (or looks, for that matter). I live by Keeping It Simple, the subframe I have in mind, will be easier to build... then to connect or remove. Thanks guys... Teg/Dan
