Replacement blades, belt - KK 4\' XB finish mower?

I was very disappointed to find that I would have to SPECIAL ORDER mower blades for my new King Kutter 4' XB finish mower that I bought from TS. I was also disappointed that the blades were worn out after two acres of leaf mulching. The belt gave up the ghost before I finished! It's a 5/8" x 108" belt. What is good heavy duty belt to replace it with. I don't want to use another KK belt (no markings on it) and would rather have the best quality I can find. Also, what heavy duty mulching blades can I use on it? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Look in your yellow pages for a local bearing distributer. Take your old belt with you and they can match it up.

Are you using this mower as a finish cut or as a brush hog? A set of blades lasts me 2 months before I rotate them out with a pre-sharpened set.

I was needing some blades for my Bush Hog brand Finish mower, and somebody on this website refered me to Agri-Supply. I called them, and the blades are on the way. Perhaps you could have the same luck?

The number: 800-345-0169
Agri-Supply

Mike gave good advice about the belt... that should be pretty easy to get a good replacement for.

Good luck

I got about eight hours out of the blade and belt. At that rate, I don't know how long it will be 'til I sandblast a few holes in my deck. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I'm running it behind my Yanmar 1510D running in creeper low speed with the PTO running in second speed. In those positions , it turns four to five inches of leaves into powder. But I'm afraid it's turning my mower into steel powder!!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Do you know what PTO RPM you are turning the PTO in second gear? I am sure that your Mower is designed for 540 RPM, and Second Gear on a multi speed PTO is consciderably higher than that. (Usually 800 ish I recall)

Try a new set of belts and blades in 1st gear on the PTO and I'd bet they'll last much longer.

I'm sure they will Tim, but it doesn't mulch worth beans in 1st PTO gear, and mulches great in 2nd PTO gear. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If your spinning the mower at more than it's design speed of 540 RPM then I would imagine that blades and belts will be the least of your worries.

Might recommend a different approach to collecting those leaves and throwing them somewhere to compost down. They really add wonders to a garden by quickly breaking down into humus.

Nope; they're the most of my worries. Mulches like a champ and runs quietly. And with synthetic gear oil and synthetic grease, nothing gets hot!
