Iwas just looking on ebay and someone was selling a box scraper I havent seen before. Instead of using a 3 pt hitch this one used trailing wheels whose height was regulated with hydraulics. The seller claimed that this rig permitted a more precise levelling process. Has anyone used such a setup and what was your feelings about it?

I don't know how big that scraper is that you saw on eBay, but one of my neighbors had an 11' one with two car type tires and wheel on the back, raised and lowered hydraulically, of course. His tractors were in the 100hp range and he had some pretty long roads he maintained with it. They're a fine piece of equipment under the right circumstances, especially for bigger jobs. Basically, it's like pulling a trailer, so maneuvering in reverse is a little different than using a 3-point box blade. His, at least, was really only good for working driving forward, not much good for pushing backwards. When we built a new fire station and bought several loads of gravel for a parking lot, he did the biggest part of the work in the wide open spaces, and I did the tight places and right next to the building with my little Kubota and 3-point box blade.

I've seen these on ebay and talked about here in the forums.
They act more like a dirt scoop and a box blade combined.
They shave off the high spots and hold the dirt in the scoop.
Then you dump it where you want it.

Expensive buggers too.
I would rather have a dirt scoop and a box scraper.
But not an implement that is a combination of the two.
