Yes and No.
I bought a kit with my BX2200 & 54" MMM. It worked great. I had no complaints on it and would likely put it back on if all I ever mowed was nice lawn.
However, I did a job where I needed to mow down some weeds--not something I enjoyed subjecting the MMM to, but it's what I had at the time. So I took the mulch kit off. That involved about a dozen bolts for my bota, plus swapping the blades.
Then I mowed the lawn again. Other than the side discharge, I couldn't see that much difference.
If I were doing it over again and wanted to gamble a little, I'd buy some mulching blades, and figure out how to plug up the discharge chute. That should be half or less the price of the kit.
No guarantees that it would be 100% as good as the kit, but would it be ok if it were only 75%, I don't know.
Something to think about though............. Putting the kit on/off mine might take an hour or so, so it's not something that is easily changed, like changing blades would be.
