That's probably like my MacKissic TPH-122. Got mine from the JD dealer; so it's green. Paid $1600, $100 off because they'd used it as a demo for the sales people. Think Northern has them for less, but not completely clear whether it includes the PTO shaft.

I like mine. Only issue I've had is the way the chipper blade is attached. Would have preferred it to have been through-bolted like the one on my TroyBilt Tomahawk was. Stripped out the allen hex on the middle bolt the first time I tried to remove the blade. Finally rotated the blade and got it off. Since then, I've had it off another time. No problem. That first time, I dropped one of the bolts into the housing. Had to drill about a 7/16" hole in the bottom of the housing to allow the bolt to drop out. Sent a note to MacKissic recommending that they put windows in the housing to allow through-bolting the blades and to allow easy retrieval of the dropped bolts. Never heard from them. Had a MacKissic on my Gravely and needed a manual for it. They sent one. That one was virtually identical to this one except it had on chipper blade. Both very smooth machines compared to the noisey TroyBilt. Both of these were better for feeding leaves than the TroyBilt. Both had sections of the hopper that would fold back and provide a wide hole to dribble leaves into.

The hammers still have absolutely no wear at all. The ones on my TroyBilt had to be rotated numerous times (can rotate them 3 times before needing replacement) and replaced twice during the approximately 10 years I had it. Hammer replacement on this one ought to be easier, as the hopper is attached just above the rotating mechanism and can therefore be removed to allow access from above, vs. wallowing around on the floor to access the mechanism on the TroyBilt.

This machine is only 160#. It'll truly fit on both a Cat 0 and Cat 1 tractor. You need Cat 0/1 bushings to fit it on a Cat 1 like my 4010 (with 18.5 hp total).

I too have Mckissic. Great tool. Mine is over 20 years old and still work wonderfully. Mine is a dark green and was originally mounted on a Gravely. I've since adapted it to a 3 point.

I've got one too. Very effective machine and it's still light enought to man-handle around a little if need be. I have a JD 4110 that's 17hp at the PTO and it has no hesitation.

I did a review of it after I got it. It can be read in This page

The Jinma fits in this category, too, and will do perhaps the largest diameter for the price (about $1500). There's a LOOOONG thread on it. Look for it. A friend of mine recently bought one and has had to replace the feed belt already and now has broken something else in the feed mechanism. He's using it on his smallest (25 hp) JD tractor. It's a beast though: wieghs about 900#.

Take a look at this and this if you are interested in a chipper only (without shredder) and something more lightweight. They say 19 hp min., but you should still be O.K. if you don't max out the log size.

The DR Chippers are made by McKissic -- FYI...
