I have pine trees that are covered with sawfly worms. I have sprayed all the trees that I could reach with 12V sprayer (25' or so). I have three trees that are about 60 ft tall. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to spray the tops. I am pretty handy rigging things. big dan

I thought about hooking up the pressure washer to my sprayer to get longer reach but I am not sure what the chemicals would do to the washer internals.

One classy long term solution is an "air blast" sprayer like orchards use. Can be fabricated from a good sized furnace blower driven by pto or engine. Rig to turn the blower at maybe 1500. Fabricate nozzles in the outlet airstream.

For one time use if you have a leaf blower - see if it will rustle the tip-top of the pines. If so, hold the nozzle of a handheld sprayer in the air stream and blow it up there.

Around 1980 my neighbor and I wanted to do some spraying. He had made a 3pt mount for a 55 gal drum with a pto pump. We hooked it up to my B7100 Kubota and I think I had it on the middle pto speed(don't remember what that is). We had to go to the hardware and find the right nozzle for distance. Worked great, would easily shoot 60 ft.

I am going to try the leaf blower first. If that won't work then the pressure washer. I don't feel like the chemicals will hurt sprayer if I clean out when done. I sure do appreciate all the help that you have given. Thanks big dan /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
