Nathan,

Sorry you missed out on the disk. When I bought mine, I missed out on a few as well. They are an item that moves pretty quickly, especially if they are in decent shape.

You can always watch ebay in your area. I have mine setup for a hundred mile radius to see what comes up. Usualy its' overpriced or in realy bad shape, but every now and then a deal comes along.

Another good source for deals is http://www.americanclassifieds.com/index.cfm

Just go to your area. Then do a seach for what you want and include local areas. It will go out a hundred miles and cover all the papers looking for what you put in your search.

Sometimes people list things wrong. Either spelling or under the wrong area. I got my laser level that way. It was in the wrong area on ebay and only had a few bids on it compared to all the other laser levels in the construction area.

Every Thursday morning I check on search for what's come out in the new issue. It takes just a minute and for the few great deals I've come across find it to be worth my time.

To give you an example, I paid $300 for a 5 ft angle iron disk. It has serated disks on fron and smooth on back. It has greese fittings and the angle of the discks are adjustable.

I went back by the used equipment place and they said they would sell the disc they had left (the one without scrapers) for $600. I told them to hold it for me and I would be by tomorrow to pick it up.

I've been trying to put closure to all my posts in case someone reads them in a search and wonders what the status is.

I did get the used disc for $600 and am really happy with it. I was able to disc 5 acres to plant some sorghum and sunflowers after about 1" of rain and it did a pretty good job.

One of the nuts fell off the axle of one of the gangs and I took it back to them yesterday and they fixed it at no charge.

Here's a picture of the disc I ended up buying:

It doesn't look that big in the picture but it is the perfect size for my 45hp tractor. It for sure knows it is back there when it is pulling it but I was able to pull it in 6th gear at about 5mph so it wasn't like it was really bogging it down.

Here is the 5 acres I worked. I made 2 passes after a 1" rain with no weights.

One other thing I noticed in comparing this to the new king cutter disc is that the disc I ended up buying has 4 gangs of 7 discs for a total of 28 discs compared to the king kutter with 4 gangs of 6 discs for only 24 discs. Not sure if the disc I ended up with is a little bigger or if the discs are just a little closer together but I'm pretty happy with my purchase at less than 1/2 the price of the new disc.

Thanks again for all the input.
